For immediate response different team more then 100 staff members have been formed to search, rescue, rapid assessment and relief works in district Uttarkashi, Chamoli & Rudraprayag
1. 8 teams were formed to conduct a rapid assessment of affected area. Thereafter formats for rapid assessment was refined, allotted to the team and also oriented them.
2. On 17-19th June 2013 the staff members were engaged in helping peoples in evacuating their houses and shifting to them at safe location and also shifted own office equipment and staff’s rooms.
releif113. Engaged the teams of more then 100 staff members in rescue operations and more then 5000 people have been rescued by the team safely
4. Breakfast, tea & safe drinking water have been served to more then 500 peoples in the relief camps from 19 onwards and will be continued up to 29th june-13. In addition to this the blankets, solar lantern were also provided to needy families in the camps
5. First Aid kit was provided to prevent the people in the relief camps from fever, Diarrhea, cold and cough.
6. Health check-ups & treatment camps are organizing at many location for pilgrims another local affected people
7. Organizing different activities with children & women in camps like awareness on health & hygiene issues, protection & safety measures and also conducted some other activities like sports, drawing, story writing activities etc and also provided the sports material and play materials to the camps
8. Coordinating the network of NGOs for joint action for immediate response and relief operation
9. Participated in ‘District legal service Authority” meeting in the Chairmanship of District Judge. Sub committees have also been constituted by this authority. The committee will monitor the quality & timely response for the disaster affected people.

Now the search, rescue & response operation for pilgrims have mostly completing but the need of basic items and other relief if also required for local affected people. The organization is planning to continue the relief activities in rural area of all 3 districts and the major future interventions for disaster response of the organization are given below-
1. Support to highly affected families for Basic food items and non food items (like canvas sheet, blankets, solar lantern, water filter etc.)
2. Organizing village level health checkups, counseling & treatment camps
3. Providing sanitation and hygiene kit including sanitary napkins for adolescent girls and women of the affected villages

5. Support to families for reconstruction of their damaged houses
6. Support to school children for basic school kit and also the school supplies
7. Support to villagers for water supply, repairing of damaged footpath, school building, damaged agriculture land etc
8. Livelihood restoration activities (training & support)
9. Awareness on disaster risk reduction & response

10. Coordination with different NGOs and government departments
11. Multilevel Advocacy on disaster issues, policies and its implementation

SBMA is now planning to continue its effort for post disaster response to support disaster affected people of all 4 districts of Uttarakhand (Chamoli, Tehri, Uttarkashi & Rudraprayag). SBMA is expecting to associate and built long term partnership with different individuals & organizations for immediate & post disaster responses. “SBMA is requesting to different donors (individuals, organizations, corporate & agencies), for the support of this proposal (area wise & activity wise), so that the response for disaster affected people can be done timely”.
